Changes to AD1 Calendar
Due to disruptions in court business caused by the coronavirus, the Appellate Division First Department has amended their 2020 calendar (see image below).
At this time, the changes primarily affect the May and June terms. All deadlines for subsequent terms are still suspended indefinitely.
Aside from the dates, another major change is that all calendared matters will be heard on submission OR orally argued via Skype. If you would like to argue by Skype, you will need to complete the court’s Notice of Appearance form and submit it with a special letter request. In an e-filed matter, these can be submitted through NYSCEF using the Notice of Appearance selection. Otherwise, the form and letter request should be sent to the court via email. Either way, this should only be done once the court issues a date.
